2004 Midwest Turf Expo – Turfgrass Science at Purdue University

2004 Midwest Turf Expo

On behalf of the Turf Program and the Midwest Regional Turf Foundation (MRTF), I’d like to thank everyone who helped with and/or attended the 2004 Midwest Turf Expo last week at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis. Some of the highlights of the Expo include

• Almost 1600 professionals attended workshops and educational sessions covering all areas of turf, parks, and recreation industries

• The tradeshow consisted of over 100 companies exhibiting in 200 booths displaying turf equipment and products as well as park and recreation supplies and equipment

• Stan Morris was awarded the 2004 MRTF Distinguished Service Award for his many years of support to the Turf Program, it’s students, and the Industry.

• The five golf course superintendent associations presented donations to the MRTF in excess of $25,000 generated from their fundraisers this summer. Then the MRTF presented these donations and more totaling $208,000 to Purdue University Department of Agronomy for support of the turfgrass research and education. We really appreciate the constant and incredibly generous support from the entire turf industry, the turf program could not be successful without it!

Thanks again for helping with and/or attending the 2004 Midwest Turf Expo. Planning is already underway for next year’s Expo, so please contact me at zreicher@purdue.edu with ideas and suggestions.
