The IN-IL Turfgrass Short Course will be held in two locations in 2008, in Lebanon, IN on Feb. 11-14 and in Willowbrook, IL, on Feb. 25-28. This is an outstanding course for new and experienced turf professionals. It’s designed for turf managers with some experience and an understanding of HOW we maintain turf, and meant to improve the understanding of WHY we do the maintenance practices we do. The course begins with turfgrass growth and physiology and progresses through soils, fertilization, and establishment, and finally culminates with weed, disease, and insect control. This course has been referred to as a “boot camp” for turf and the demand for this course has been outstanding over the last 10 years. The class is now only four days to make the lodging slightly more affordable, but the length of each day has been extended to maintain the contact hours. Additionally, there will be ample time provided this year to work on real world case studies, which is a great learning opportunity for the attendees.
