Quicksilver Receives 24C Registration for Moss on Greens in Indiana

FMC’s QuickSilver T&O herbicide has just received special local 24(c) registration for control of silvery thread moss in putting greens in Indiana. Though Quicksilver (carfentrazone) is used widely as a quick knockdown contact broadleaf herbicide, it has good efficacy on silvery thread moss. The recommended rate for moss is 6.7 fluid oz/A (0.154 oz/1000 ft2 followed by another application in two weeks at 6.7 fluid ounces/A. Use a non-ionic surfactant in the spray mix at a rate of 0.25% volume/volume. Application to bentgrass turf that is under stress due to extreme high (>90°F) or low temperatures, disease infection, insect infestation, or extreme high or low moisture conditions may cause transitory yellowing. Poa annua may be damaged at rates greater than 2.0 fluid ounces per acre and some cultivars of creeping bentgrass may yellow. It’s best to experiment on a small area or a practice green before using on an entire green in play. Stay tuned for a link to the full 24C label for IN.
