At this weekend’s Homecoming activities, Randy Brehmer will receive the Agronomic Award of Distinction from Purdue’s Department of Agronomy. This award is reserved for those who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to help the Department of Agronomy and Randy is especially deserving of this award for all he has done to help the Turf Program. Randy has served on the board of directors of the Midwest Regional Turf Foundation (MRTF) for nine years, serving as president for one year and currently serves as Treasurer. Randy has helped coordinate the tradeshows for the Midwest Turf Expo and Midwest Turf Field Day for the last 13 years. He has volunteered endless hours insuring the success of the MRTF and the Purdue Turf Program, including bulldozing the shell for the acre-sized USGA green at the Daniel Center. Randy also has served on the Board of Directors of the Indiana Golf Course Superintendents Association (IGCSA) for eighteen years, serving as President for three terms. Randy Brehmer is also a member of the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America and serving on the Environmental Programs Committee and chairing a task force on this committee. Randy will receive this award at the Agronomy Harvest Reunion this Saturday (Oct. 15) on campus. More information is available at http://www.agry.purdue.edu/pdf/Agronomy-reunion.pdf.
